REPETITION IN POETRY
TODAY FOR LITERACY, WE HAD A CHART WHICH WE HAD TO FILL IN WITH DIFFERENT POEMS' WORDS THAT WERE REPEATED. I HAD NO PROBLEM DOING THIS ASSIGNMENT BUT EVEN THOUGH THE AUTHOR WE HAD TO WRITE ABOUT WAS LANGSTON HUGHES, I CHOSE OTHER AUTHORS TOO SINCE THEIR POEMS WERE VERY INTERESTING AND ALSO USED REPETITION. THOSE OTHER POETS' POEMS THAT I READ WERE FROM KIDS ABOUT 14-16 YEARS OLD. AND THEY WERE GREAT FOR EXAMPLE, WHILE I WAS SEARCHING FOR POEMS WITH REPETITION I FOUND A PAGE WITH MANY POEMS. ONE POEM THAT REALLY CAUGHT MY EYE WAS A POEM CALLED, " I NEVER TOLD THIS TO ANYONE." THAT POEM REALLY CAUGHT MY EYE BECAUSE IT USED REPETITION WHEN HE WAS SAYING "BURNING HOUSE" AND FROM THE TITLE YOU COULD EASILY TELL THAT WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE HOUSE WAS BURNING DOWN HE NEVER TOLD ANYONE ELSE.

Giselle,
That was a great post! I am glad that you guys are working with poetry. Poetry is my favorite medium of creative expression. I love to write poems, because they allow me a freedom which no other writing style, does. I am really glad you thought outside of the box and used other poet's work along with the work of the great Langston Hughes. I know he is a great poet, but I also enjoy reading the poetry of young adults.
I would love to know more about your taste in poetry. who are some of your favorite poets or some of your favorite poems? I really enjoy the poems of Pablo Neruda, T.S. Eliot, Sylvia Plath and Anne Sexton. One of my favorite poems of all time is, "The Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carroll- the guy who wrote "Alice in Wonderland." It's a really fun poem to try to memorize.
As far as your blogging goes,be aware of your sentence structure. Remember, a good sentence always contains a subject/object/verb combination.
Until next time...keep writing!
